Ekin Ozer

Columbia Engineering
PhD Candidate in Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics
Ekin Ozer got his BSc and MSc degrees from Bogazici University, Department of Civil Engineering, in 2009 and 2012, respectively. He continues his studies as a PhD candidate in Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, Columbia University.
His research interests include structural health monitoring (SHM), structural dynamics, system identification, model updating, reliability estimation, earthquake engineering, digital signal processing, sensors, and more. His PhD research on smartphone-based SHM brought modern, interdisciplinary, and novel concepts into civil engineering such as crowdsourcing, mobile sensing, smart cities, and the Internet of Things. He developed a mobile accelerometer application, a web-based modal analysis platform, and a data storage software which became the first vibration-based SHM system using crowdsourcing as an operation source.
