Columbia Engineering
PhD Candidate in Electrical Engineering
Kostas Alexandrou received his B.S degree in Computer Engineering from the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences in 2008. He continued his studies joining the international Master's in Nanotechnology, a joint degree from 3 European universities, finishing with a thesis at IBM Almaden in California.
In 2012, he joined as a PhD candidate Columbia University, department of electrical engineering where he has been working on the effects of ionizing radiation on graphene based devices. His research involves fabrication and characterization of graphene transistors in order to determine the long term effects of irradiation. In addition, he completed a joint project with NASA Ames research center and SJSU in California for the design and launch of L-sat, which he and his collaborators successfully launched July 2014.
